Gardener's Delight Inspirational Horticultural Craftwork 31st July - 5th September 2010
Plant a seed of inspiration with a stunning selection of crafts for the garden and home at the Gardener’s Delight summer exhibition at Walford Mill. The event is free to attend and runs from 31st July to 5th September. Exhibitor curator Christine Fletcher-Jones displays work from a range of makers to celebrate unusual and creative ideas for your garden. The exhibition features work from local and national makers. On display in the courtyard of the Mill will be Wendy Hoare’s large-scale ceramic pots, each pot is made by coiling clay and takes around two to three weeks. Wendy enjoys the stimulus and challenge of using different types of clay and says, “Every pot must be an adventure”.
Jill Ford creates beautiful porcelain hand thrown bowls and vases. A garden bench from local blacksmiths, Abbott Street Forge, Pamphill, and stunning glass obelisks from Manswood’s Gillian McCormick will also feature.
Lucy Casson’s highly regarded and collectable work will be featured in the gallery. Casson transforms every day scrap metal and raw materials into the most fantastic characters, "old objects have a special character and inspire my 'creatures'..." she says. The exhibition opened on Saturday 31st July. For more information about our Artistic Policy please click here.
