Walford Mill Crafts’ Touring Exhibition

Lois Walpole

A retrospective solo Touring Exhibition of the work of Lois Walpole.

Bonhoga Gallery, Shetland: March 26th -May 1st 2011

National Viechtmuseum (National Basket Museum, Holland): July 2nd - October 23rd 2011

Harley Foundation Gallery, Nottingham: 20th June - 12th August 2012

More than 30 pieces spanning a 28 year international career that demonstrates the range of skills and variety of materials employed that have made her work unique. Using the medium of the basket, an instantly recognisable form, she has explored the use of natural and recycled materials to create objects that communicate on many levels, aesthetically and intellectually.

Sculptural, extraordinary, amusing, beautiful these objects question our expectations of how a basket should look and what it should be made of and what we really mean when we refer to ‘waste materials’.
