Animals in Wire with Helen Godfrey

During this one day workshop you will learn techniques for creating a three dimensional small animal form of your choice using wire netting.

Design a Quilt or Large Wall Hanging with Mary Bird
Tuesdays: 16th, 23rd February, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd March 2010

£95 for the six week course
This course will enable you to design a unique quilt or large wall hanging. We will use inspirational source materials such as photos, an image from a magazine or an object such as tree bark.
This course is an advanced course for those who have good patchwork and quilting skills.


Colouring Fabrics with Mary Bird
Wednesdays: 17th, 24th February, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th March 2010

A course that covers a variety of methods for colouring cotton and silk fabrics.
*There will be a small charge for dyes etc. during the course.


Silver Clay Jewellery with Hilary Bowen

Extended Patchwork & Quilting Skills with Mary Bird

A series of six one-day workshops practising advanced patchwork and quilting techniques. This course will help you to create your own unique designs as well as produsing a portfolio of sample techniques.

Silversmithing with our onsite jeweller Kathryn Arbon
Fridays: 23rd, 30th April, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th May, 18th, 25th June, and 2nd, 9th July 2010
10am - 2.30pm each day - 10 week course
£180 (That's only £18 per class!)
This is an introductory jewellery and silversmithing course, intended for those who would like to have a go at designing and making their own piece of jewellery.

Potted Art! Garden Craft Day with Diana Guy and Jenny Adams

Create a living sculptural garden in your chosen vessel. Themed garden workshop with BBC Gardener of the Year, Diana Guy and local artist in wood Jenny Adams.

Glass Bead Workshop with Liz Guilmant-Cush

A beginner's course introducing the art of lampwork glass beads using Murano glass. Learn to make your own glass beads by melting glass and winding it round a rod to form unique and beautiful shapes.
Note: This workshop will be held in our marquee outside, please wear suitable attire for weather conditions.


Fabric Manipulation Weekend Workshop with Mary Bird

By folding, stitching and cutting cloth a flat surface can turn into a softly sculpted relief. This two-day workshop explores the exciting textural effects that can be created by manipulating fabric.

Design, Fabric and Stitch
Textile Workshop with Yvonne Morton

Working with well known textile artist Yvonne Morton you will look into design and abstraction.
This will be a practical day using poetry as inspiration to create an abstract piece of work in fabric and stitch.


Coiled Baskets with Lois Walpole
with found natural and recycled materials

This workshop will provide a wealth of new and adapted idas for working with a wide-range of free and readily available materials providing the student with the technical knowledge and confidence to enable them to develop their own creativity and unique baskets.
Students need to bring a selection (about 2 carrier bags full) of found or recycled materials that are readily available to them in their home environment.

Plaited Baskets with Lois Walpole
with recycled materials

Plaited baskets are found all over the world where the indigenous materials lend themselves to being cut into regular strips and is particularly suitable for working with recycled materials. It is a simple but apparantly magical process whereby 2-D weaving becomes a 3-D object with only a few simple movements.
Students should bring anything they have that they think might be suitable for cutting and folding into long strips, and for stitching with.

Colour and Weave with Kelly Kay

Kelly is a local weaver, with an experimental approach to weave, exploring a variety of colours and yarns. This enjoyable workshop will teach the principles of weave through the method of box weaving.
Students will need to bring any yarns or materials you wish to weave with - they can be as experimental as you like - and an image or photo to inspire colour selections.
