A beginner's course introducing the art of lampwork glass beads using Murano glass. Learn to make your own glass beads by melting glass and winding it round a rod to form unique and beautiful shapes.

Animals in Wire with Helen Godfrey

During this one day workshop you will learn techniques for creating a three dimensional small animal form of your choice using wire netting.
*Material fee will depend of the amount used, to be bought from tutor on the day.

Coiled Baskets with Lois Walpole
with found natural and recycled materials

This workshop will provide a wealth of new and adapted idas for working with a wide-range of free and readily available materials providing the student with the technical knowledge and confidence to enable them to develop their own creativity and unique baskets.
Students
need to bring a selection (about 2 carrier bags full) of found or recycled materials that are readily available to them in their home environment.

Plaited Baskets with Lois Walpole
with recycled materials

Plaited baskets are found all over the world where the indigenous materials lend themselves to being cut into regular strips and is particularly suitable for working with recycled materials. It is a simple but apparantly magical process whereby 2-D weaving becomes a 3-D object with only a few simple movements.
Students
should bring anything they have that they think might be suitable for cutting and folding into long strips, and for stitching with.

Silver Clay Jewellery with Hilary Bowen

Advanced Vibrant Velvet with Jane Venables

Jane has many years teaching experience and a wealth of knowledge surrounding textile design. This one day advanced course will be exploring further techniques of of devoree, dying, discharging, using wax and painting using vibrant procion dyes on velvet. You will be working on black and white velvet.
Colour and Weave with Kelly Kay
Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st November 2010
10am - 4pm each day

Kelly is a local weaver, with an experimental approach to weave, exploring a variety of colours and yarns. This enjoyable workshop will teach the principles of weave through the method of box weaving.
Students will need to bring any yarns or materials you wish to weave with - they can be as experimental as you like - and an image or photo to inspire colour selections.

10am - 2.30pm each day - 10 week course
£180 (that's only £18 per class!)
This is an introductory jewellery and silversmithing course, intended for those who would like to have a go at designing and making their own piece of jewellery.
The jewellery making techniques that will be covered include, piercing, soldering and polishing.
