Friday 10th July - Willow Workshops: Garden Obelisk - with Nina Stockings

Make an impressive 6ft tall garden obelisk from hazel and willow, using different colours and weaves to make your obelisk truly individual. Cake and hot drinks provided.

Saturday 11th July - Colourful Acrylics using patterning and layering techniques - with Teresa Rogers

Use colour and pattern to create a quirky and unique painting discovering a range of techniques that are used in painting with acrylics. You will see examples of this style of painting in The Creatives exhibition at Walford Mill which runs from 1st - 19th July.

Suitable for beginners and improvers

Saturday 18th July - Paint and Make your own Lampshade - with Teresa Rogers

Use a variety of painting and printing methods to produce a beautiful handmade lampshade that will be perfect for your home or to give as a present. You will go home having learned some useful painting techniques and how to make a lampshade.

Saturday 8th August - Introduction to Silver Clay - with Claire Marshall

Come and explore the magical world of Silver Clay.

On this one day introductory course you will learn how to handle, roll, texture, cut, fire and finish your own designs.

By the end of the day you will have two or three pieces of (hallmark quality 999) Silver Jewellery ready to wear on your way home, along with plenty of new skills.

Small class sizes in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

This course is perfect for beginners or those wishing to refresh their skills.

Plenty of tea coffee and delicious biscuits available throughout the day.

Sat/Sun 15/16 August - Next Level Spoon Carving - Jack Fazey

Designed for those who already have some experience and want to improve their carving skills.

This workshop will focus on adding 'crank', or bends, to spoons. An essential skill to create spoons that function well and look great.
Focus on the way to add crank, as well as improving axe technique, will be the main subject of the day. Also covered will be

- Spoon Design & Ergonomics for function and strength
- Smooth finishing cuts on dry wood
- Tool maintenance & sharpening

Participant numbers are limited to 4 students per course. This is to ensure each student will receive 1 on 1 tuition throughout the day to perfect these new skills.

Two seperate workshops will be running

Saturday 22nd August - Drawing and Painting Classes "Inspired by Nature" - with Julie Herring

Get closer to nature, by ‘Drawing from observation’ with tuition and guidance by Artist/Tutor, Julie Herring.

Friendly, adult classes, suitable for beginners and improvers.

Subjects over the various drawing classes with Julie will be Spring flowers, seasonal flora, hedgerows, shells and a selection of items from the tutor’s own natural collection.

Indoor or outdoor sketching. Please bring sketchbooks and pencils and/or watercolours. Other materials provided.

Enjoy the Mill, riverbank and natural surroundings for inspiration.

Saturday 5th September - Harbour Workshop - with Michelle Clements-Davies

A fun day working with driftwood and reclaimed materials to create your very own miniature harbour complete with tiny harbour cottages.

All materials are provided but you are very welcome to bring any special pieces of wood or reclaimed rusty bits to work with.

Step-by-step tuition to guarantee great results, in the very comfortable new education room at Walford Mill.

Refreshments are provided throughout the day, but please provide your own packed lunch or book a table at the wonderful bistro opposite by the river.

The cost for the day is £80, payable when booking.

This one-day workshop is perfect for beginners looking to learn a new technique.

You will be taught the principles of designing for print, how to separate your design into two colours, methods for cutting lino, and how to print a two colour reduction print on Robin's 1854 Albion press.
