Community Projects and School Outreach

Walford Mill Education Trust work closely with local schools, students, family organizations, public and private healthcare, community and elderly care groups to inspire learning and culture for the enrichments of all, regardless of ages, ability or privilege.

Dementia Carers History Festival Workshop

Creating two large collaged banners based on Georgian Wimborne/Dorset to be used as promotional material for the History Festival 2020 advertising campaign in conjunction with Prama LIFE community outreach.

Stepping into Nature Dementia Workshops

Stepping into Nature aims to help people be happier and healthier by connecting with nature.

The project funded by the National Community Fund uses Dorset’s natural and cultural landscape to provide activities and sensory rich places for older adults, including those living with dementia and their care partners. The nature-themed activities – both indoors and out – help people find new places to go, learn new skills and meet like-minded people.

Creating bird feeders as part of the Dorset Stepping into Nature initiative to improve health and wellbeing of dementia sufferers and carers in conjunction with the National Community Fund.


Dorset Next

Working with a group of students with a variety of educational needs in conjunction with the Arts Development Company, this included creating a series of professional promotional photographs for the pop up Christmas exhibition at the Mill.


Face Forward

Face Forward was an innovative three year project in Dorset, Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch, part of the Building Better Opportunities Programme to help the most disengaged 14 -24 year olds move forward and achieve their goals. It ran March 2017 to March 2020 and was funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the National Lottery Community Fund. Face Forward worked with over 700 young adults across Dorset. who were marginalised from mainstream activity due to personal or circumstantial barriers. Participants were not in education, employment or training or at risk of becoming NEET. 106 of these young people through Dorset Youth Association in volunteering or work experiences.


Reduction Print Workshop

Day workshop at Port Regis School. The day workshops was one of five workshops delivered by artists as portfolio preparation for students applying for Art Scholarships.


CREATE Online

During Spring 2020 the regular CREATE workshops went online, providing ideas and inspiration to everyone forced to stay at home during the early stages of the pandemic. The lockdown didn't constrain the creative flair shown by all the participants!
