Otters underneath the Mill

In 2008 funds were raised to install a camera in the arch under the Mill to capture the movements of the otters living in the River Allen. Further cameras have also been installed in a nesting box and a bird feeder.

This year, 2010, Walford Mill has been working closely with the Dorset Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency to keep further tabs on the comings and goings of wildlife around the Mill.

In October the Environment Agency confirmed that fresh otter spray could be seen under the Mill's arch, meaning the otters are still alive and well and passing underneath the building.
