Footsteps Exhibition on tour into 2006

Footsteps is a National Touring show instigated by Walford Mill Craft Centre and funded by Arts Council England. The show has been co-curated by Christine Lawry, Director of Walford Mill and Gabriella Falk, artist.

The concept for Footsteps involves nine textiles-based artists from the South West who have each linked to a museum collection or piece of their choice and creating a newly commissioned piece in response. The exhibition contains challenging and deeply affecting work which touches many issues that each artist has explored; feminism, slavery, ceremony and mystery are amongst the topics. The pieces cover a whole range of disciplines from textiles to photography, print, and mixed media. The feedback on the tour so far has been excellent: this special collection of the best in contemporary work must be seen whilst it remains on tour!
