Part Time (Tuesday and a Sunday) Senior Shop and Gallery Sales Assistant

 

Job Title: Senior Gallery Assistant

Nature of Employment: Two days a week - Tuesdays and Sundays.
(plus opportunities for cover)
Hours per day:
Sundays (5hrs) 10.45am- 4.15pm (Less1/2hr Lunch)  Paid as 7 hrs
Tuesdays (7hrs) 9.45 – 5.15pm (Less1/2hr Lunch)

Rate of Pay: £7.50 per hour

Reporting to: Chief Executive

Responsible for:
i) Junior or Volunteer staff in the shop and gallery
ii) work experience students in the shop

Overall purpose of the job

To achieve the Board’s objectives for the retail operation of Walford Mill, in the context of agreed policies and procedures

Main duties and responsibilities

1. To meet customer needs and achieve the highest standards of customer care.

2. To supervise the Junior Gallery Assistant and to work as a team with the volunteer workforce, advised by the Chief Executive.

3. To liaise with the Chief Executive on all aspects of arrangements for any special sales promotions, presentations or displays.

4. To organise and monitor all aspects of stock control and display, including contacting suppliers and handling customers special orders.

5. To be responsible for EPOS shop and gallery/exhibition sales and associated procedures, including handling cash, debit and credit card transactions, plus daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations and annual stocktaking.

6. Supervise the working conditions of volunteer staff in the shop and gallery, including induction and training procedures for new staff and for work experience students.

7. To act as duty officer at the Mill, adhering to establish routine systems and procedures for security, health, safety and cleanliness on the premises.

8. To provide a basic enquiry response service for the craft school and exhibition programmes, dispensing literature as available when office staff unavailable.

9. To participate in regular staff meetings and such other meetings as may from time to time be required.

Annual leave entitlement 20 days + bank holidays pro-rata per annum (accrued quarterly)
Overtime rates payable for Bank Holiday and evening work.
Statutory sick pay entitlements
One months notice required on either side.
Payment monthly in arrears.
