Christmas Market and
Late Night Opening

29th November 2007

Walford Mill had a very pleasant Christmas Market in its courtyard in a small marquee, featuring local crafts people and food producers. Visitors had the opportunity to join in the festive celebrations, doing their Christmas shopping in the market, craft shop and the specila Christmas exhibition 'Indulgence' whilst enjoying mulled wine and mince pies and some music.

Also local blacksmith Ken Fanner demonstrated his skills to vistiors throughout the day.

Japan Day

Bank Holiday Monday

Japan has an exciting and elegant culture full of beautiful arts and crafts and some of the world's most amazing festivals and traditions. It also has an energetic and vibrant edge with lively music and dance, not to mention spectacular costumes.

Walford Mill is offering the unique chance to experience this exciting culture at their annual outdoor multi-cultural day. This family event will include; Japanese craft, dance and music workshops as well as performances and storytelling.


Twelfth Night

Saturday, 25th August 2007

Rain or Shine Theatre Company present William Shakespeare's
timeless and charming romantic comedy "Twelfth Night"
at Walford Mill Crafts.
The performance will take place in our courtyard on Saturday, 25th August.
The gates open at 6pm for picnics (seating provided) and
the performance will commence at 7.30pm.

Tickets:£12 for Adults, £10 Concessions,£6 Child (Aged 5-15)

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Rain or Shine Theatre Company presented Shakespeare's charming and immortal comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream at Walford Mill Crafts in August.


Brazil Fiesta!

Bank Holiday Monday

August 28th 2006

Walford Mill Crafts had another very successful cultural day on the Bank Holiday Monday where over 650 people joined in the event and enjoyed themselves very much. During Brazil Fiesta, Walford Mill offered the visitors the chance to experience amazing Brazil at the annual outdoor family event. 'Brazil Fiesta' included Brazilian Drumming by Magic Drums, Dancing by Tiago Gambogi, and Storytelling by Elly Stuart. The visitors also had the opportunity to join in the craft workshops including making Carnival Flags, Carnival Masks and Carnival Headdresses as well as the chance to learn Brazilian Dancing and Drumming. The Bistro at the Mill served fantastic Brazilian food especially for the day. The day ended with a grand finale where children and adults joined in the drumming parade wearing their headdresses and masks and carrying the carnival flags they made during the day.

Walford Mill Crafts took part in Dorset's only storytelling festival
"The Sting in the Tale"
. The festival was held in over 20 local venues hosting professional local and national storytellers from August 19th until August 28th 2006.



Caribbean Day

Our annual cultural event 2005 was held on August 29th with great success!
The event featured a celebration of the Caribbean. Wayne Gibson, steel drummer played in the morning bringing a real flavour of Caribbean music to the courtyard. Carol Russell, professional storyteller enchanted the crowd visiting with tales of Caribbean sunshine and lots more (this event was part of the Sting in the Tale storytelling festival running across East Dorset and Christchurch). The Bistro cooked up a feast of Caribbean food, including outdoor barbeques.
