Stone, Paper, Scissors

September 12th - October 25th 2009

The Jurassic Coast has so much to offer through its natural beauty including the wild cliff tops, amazing fossils and the exciting wildlife. All this has been an inspiration to many artists who have in so many different ways demonstrated their interest through their creations. Also inspired by this fantastic Jurassic Coast, Walford Mill Crafts has put together the ‘Stone, Paper, Scissors’ exhibition which has started on September 12th.

‘Stone, Paper, Scissors’ features work in stone, paper and textiles created by local and national makers who have worked with materials and ideas from the Jurassic Coast.

Using silk paper, Jane Price explored the wildlife of the Jurassic Coast, making butterflies especially for this exhibition, which gives an insight to butterfly world in this historical coast. Jane’s colourful selection of butterflies includes Lulworth Skipper, White Letter Hairstreak, Silver-Studded Blue, Adonis Blue and Grayling. Exploring a different avenue from the Jurassic Coast, Jane Deane exhibits her textile work inspired by a fossil called, Ichthyosaur.
