Fabric Stencilling Workshop
25th April 2026 10-3

with

Melanie Ward

About the workshop

This workshop is ideal for both beginners and more confident textile crafters, and includes hand printing, fabric appliqué and simple embroidery stitches. In a relaxed, guided session -with demonstrations, support, and plenty of practice time, you’ll learn how to stencil-print successfully onto fabric using Melanie’s pre-made spring flowers, cheerful jugs and vintage teacup designs.

In the latter part of the workshop, she will show you a range of easy embroidery stitches to enhance your printed pieces, along with how to split and blend coloured embroidery threads to create beautiful shading effects. You’ll also learn how to mount and present your work in a wooden hoop, ready to hang on the wall or give as a truly unique gift.

By the end of the day, you’ll take home a selection of colourful printed samplers featuring jugs and teacups filled with joyful flowers, as well as the confidence and know-how to continue this relaxing, creative stitching at home.

Fabric blanks and an embroidery hoop are included, and you’ll be able to use Melanie’s own hand-mixed fabric paints along with embroidery threads to get you started.

Aprons are provided on the day, but best to wear clothes you are happy to get mucky.

There will be morning and afternoon refreshments included, please bring a packed lunch with you. Alternatively book a Mill Deal Lunch Box at the Little Pickle Cafe

Gift vouchers can be arranged for this course, it makes for a wonderful Birthday treat that is enjoyed long after the event.

"For someone who is not very confident with stitching I chose to start some embroidery with the help and encouragement from Melanie. I now have a lovely project to go home with, and the knowledge of some simple stitching to complete my wonderful artwork! Thank you Melanie."
