Indian Block Printing - Celebrating Spring

A lovely full day of Indian block printing for beginners and experienced printers. This workshop is located in Walford Mill Crafts in Wimborne, Dorset. (For location and directions, please see below).
Looking to learn a new craft which is simple and easy to do? Then you’ll love Indian Block Printing.
Relax and enjoy the experience of hand printing with hand-carved wooden designs on a variety of blank fabric items, paper or card. From beautiful birds to bright botanicals, choose from a wide range of contemporary and traditional designs all hand-carved in Indian Rosewood by local artisans from Jaipur, India.
No experience necessary. You will be guided through the simple techniques required to print items that will be special and unique to you. From lovely linens to beautiful bags and bunting. We’ll provide the materials – you provide the imagination. Try it. You’ll love it. Print. Relax. Repeat. Perfect!
Workshop Fee: £80 per person. All Materials & Refreshments included.
What’s Included
The course price includes 6 hours of guided tuition, use of a variety of beautiful contemporary and traditional hand-carved wood block designs and all materials including printing equipment, a choice of blank fabric items (e.g. bags, bunting, aprons, tea towels, etc.), blank cards, and a variety of colourful fabric paints.
What to Expect
The workshop will teach you the basic principles of Indian block printing, but most important of all, it will provide you with plenty of opportunity to get hands-on and create some beautiful items that will be special and unique to you.
Refreshments
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes are available from the courtyard cafe "Little Pickle at the Mill”.
Workshop Format
Morning 10.00am - 1.00pm (3 hours):
• Introduction - What is Indian block printing
• Resources - What materials to use and how to use them
• Demonstration - How to block print
• Designs - Choosing your block designs and paint colours
• Practice - Printing designs on scrap fabric
• Printing - Commence printing up to 3 Blank Fabric items of your choice e.g. bags, bunting, aprons, tea towels, etc. Card options also available.
Lunch: 1.00 - 1.30pm (30 mins)
Lunch, tea, coffee and soft drinks are available from the courtyard cafe "Little Pickle at the Mill”.
Afternoon 1.30pm - 4.00pm (2.5 hours):
• Printing - Continue printing your fabric and card items.
What to Bring
You will be provided with all the materials you will need for the workshop but it is recommended that you bring along an apron as working with fabric paint can be messy! If you don't have an apron, don't worry, we can provide one for you.
