Indian Block Printing - Fabulous Festive Prints

A lovely full day of Indian block printing for beginners and experienced printers. This workshop is located in the beautiful Fisherton Mill Gallery & Cafe in Salisbury (see below for details of location).


Looking to learn a new craft which is simple and easy to do? Then you’ll love Indian Block Printing.

Give yourself a gift this Christmas and wrap yourself in a day of creating Fabulous Festive prints.

Relax and enjoy the experience of hand printing festive items with hand-carved wooden designs on a variety of 100% cotton blank fabric items or card. Choose from a wide range of contemporary and traditional designs all hand-carved in Indian Rosewood by local artisans from Jaipur, India. No experience necessary. You’ll be guided through the simple techniques to print beautiful festive fabric and card items that will be special and unique to you. From cracking Christmas crackers to tasty table runners, Santa’s stockings, gift bags and more. We’ll provide the materials – you provide your imagination. Try it. You’ll love it. Print. Relax. Repeat. Perfect!


Workshop Fee: £85 per person. All Materials included.


What’s Included

The course price includes 6 hours of guided tuition, use of a variety of beautiful contemporary and traditional hand-carved wood block designs and all materials including printing equipment, a choice of blank fabric items (see options below), blank Christmas crackers, and a variety of colourful fabric and acrylic paints.


Printing Option 1:

1 x Festive Table Runner (48 x 140cm) - 100% Cotton White High quality 210gsm fabric

4 x Napkins (39cm x 39cm) - 100% Cotton

Printing Option 2:

up to 3 x Blank Fabric items of your choice e.g. bottle bags, stockings, apron, bunting, large tea towel, tote bag, cosmetic bag, cushion cover, Set of 4 napkins, etc.

Printing Option 3:

up to 6 x Festive Christmas Crackers (including gifts, jokes, etc)

up to 12 x Christmas Cards (Mix of Portrait & Landscape)


What to Expect

During the workshop you will be guided though the simple techniques to print items that will be special and unique to you. Most importantly, it will provide you with plenty of opportunity to get hands-on and creative. Hand-printed fabric samples will also be available to help provide inspiration and unleash your creativity! 


Workshop Format

Morning 10.00am - 1.00pm (3 hours):

Introduction - What is Indian block printing

• Resources - What materials to use and how to use them

• Demonstration - How to block print

• Designs - Choosing your block designs and paint colours

• Practice - Printing designs on scrap fabric

• Printing - Commence printing final item(s) i.e. Option 1, 2 or 3.


Lunch: 1.00 - 1.30pm (30 mins)

Lunch, tea, coffee & soft drinks are available from the courtyard cafe, Little Pickle at the Mill. A Picnic Lunch at £12 is also available for those attending a workshop in Walford Mill. The Picnic Lunch consists of a traditional sandwich/salad box, slice of cake and drink. Please place order in the café before 11am. Your lunch will be placed in a brown paper bag with your name on it ready for collection at 1pm from the back of Little Pickle at the Mill. 


Afternoon 1.30pm - 4.00pm (2.5 hours):

• Printing - Continue printing blank fabric and/or Christmas cards and cracker items.


Refreshments

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and variety of sandwiches, salads and cakes are available from the courtyard cafe, Little Pickle at the Mill. 


What to Bring

You will be provided with all the materials you will need for the workshop but it is recommended that you bring along an apron as working with fabric paint can be messy!
