Shoreline Treasures Plaster Casting

If you enjoy beachcombing , you’ll love this workshop! This is the perfect way to use some of those lovely seashells, seaglass and seaweeds! Come and spend a relaxing day at Walford Mill in Wimborne, learning how to cast your treasured beach finds in plaster to create beautiful, tactile, ‘Rockpools’

The workshop is held at Walford Mill Crafts, Knobcrook Lane, Off Stone Lane, Wimborne BH21 1NL It runs from 11am to approximately 2.30 pm and includes all the materials required to make up to 3 little circular plaster casts of various sizes.

During the workshop you will learn how to:

• prepare the clay and frames

•  work with coastal finds to make an attractive design

• mix the plaster to fill the clay impression

• release the cast from the mould. (You will be amazed by the wonderful  details captured!)

•  clean and finish the piece

I will also talk about the use of colour on plaster which is an option you might like to try later at home.

Classes are always small to enable plenty of one to one support, so early booking is advised to secure your place.

Refreshments will be available. Please bring a packed lunch or order one from the Little Pickle Cafe. A menu will be sent after booking.

Walford Mill is a grade II listed mill  and unique destination in Wimborne, Dorset. With the waterside café Little Pickle at the Mill , resident artists, designers and makers working in open studios, exhibitions, pop-up studios, craft workshops for adults and children and monthly craft markets in the idyllic riverside courtyard, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
