About the workshop

This workshop is perfect for both complete beginners and more confident textile crafters, combining hand printing, fabric appliqué and simple embroidery in one relaxed, creative day.

Working in a friendly, supportive setting, we start the day learning how to stencil print onto fabric. With step by step with demonstrations, plenty of practice time, and one-to-one support throughout. Creating unique arrangements of lavender, daisies, alliums, summer foliage & colourful jugs. In the second part of the day, you’ll progress to adding stitched detail, bringing your designs to life with texture and subtle colour.

During the workshop, you’ll learn how to:• Stencil print confidently onto fabric using my pre-made designs of summer flowers.• Build layered, decorative compositions as well as using appliqué techniques.• Learn how to enhance your printed pieces with simple, effective embroidery stitches.• Split and blend embroidery threads to create soft shading and beautiful detailing• Mount and present your work in a wooden hoop, ready to display or gift.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a collection of colourful hand printed samplers, along with the skills and confidence to continue mindful embroidery at home.

All materials are provided, including fabric blanks, an embroidery hoop, my hand-mixed fabric paints, and a selection of embroidery threads to get you started.

Gift vouchers can be arranged for this course, it makes for a wonderful Birthday treat that is enjoyed long after the event.

"For someone who is not very confident with stitching I chose to start some embroidery with the help and encouragement from Melanie. I now have a lovely project to go home with, and the knowledge of some simple stitching to complete my wonderful artwork! Thank you Melanie."
