JOAN SCOTT
Inspired by ideas and recollections of the Dorset countryside and coast, Joan’s love of colour and texture is evident in her mixed media paintings as well as the semi-abstract compositions she creates with acrylic and collage on canvas.
Joan has lived in East Dorset for more than 40 years and over that time has been drawing, painting and exhibiting her work in the local area and beyond. She studied Fine Arts at the Arts Institute, Bournemouth (now AUB)
She was the winner of the CADarts Open Exhibition, and also won a prize at the 2026 Sherborne Open.
She has had paintings selected for Exhibitions at the RWA Annual Open at Bristol and the Mall Galleries, London (Discerning Eye and Society of Women Artists). Recently her work has been selected for open exhibitions - the Dorset Open 2025, Southampton City Art Gallery, and St Barbe at Lymington. Her work is in private collections around the world.

BARBARA DAVIS
Barbara's work is a personal response to a specific location, memory or collection of objects with special emphasis on colour. Paintings are made in the studio with reference to many sketchbooks and photographs, distilling the drawn, seen, remembered image to a more abstract form to give impact. She has exhibited widely and been shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

DICK HEWITSON
Many of Dick’s landscape-based works are contemporary interpretations of Dorset, with varying degrees of figuration. His work sometimes has a specific focus, for instance a number of works about WW2 Dorset coastal defences which were included in four exhibitions between 2021 and Dec 2024 from Bodmin to Coleshill (Warwickshire), Monmouth and Gillingham (Kent) curated by Tim Craven 'Concrete Castles - Britain's War Defences 1940'.
He also exhibited in ‘A Post Industrial Picturesque’, June-Sept 2025 at Newcastle-under-Lyme, also curated by Tim Craven.
Currently he is mainly painting in Oils on canvas, board or wood panel. His works often make use of prior field sketches. Studio drawings often play a significant part in composition - using drawing as a thinking tool.
Although he started painting in the 1960s, he began painting seriously around 2011/2012, and started entering 'Open' exhibitions in 2013.
He exhibits widely in Dorset, London and the South-West; he has had work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (London), the RWA Annual Open (Bristol), the Bath Society of Artists Open and The Black Swan Arts Open in Frome.
