Meet our new Emerging Maker
Twelve-Month Bursary for an Emergent Maker
Walford Mill Education Trust has been fortunate to secure a bursary funded by The Radcliffe Trust.
This will support a maker through the critical start of a creative career and we have been joined by Andie Slayford.
Andie is a freelance artist based on the south coast of England.
She is known for her abstract take of her home county Dorset where she lives with her husband and their two children.
Her paintings pull the viewer in to a cool mix of tactile textures and lively atmospheric scapes.
After applying several layers of textured paste to the canvas (which she often creates herself) multiple layers of acrylic paint are used to depict the forces of nature which is ubiquitous to her collections.
In 2022 Andie integrated inks, gold leaf and epoxy resin in to a range of work as a new format.
Andie has become notable for her large canvases and creating unique art for homes and office interiors including exquisite show homes for a prestigious and award winning interior designer.
To give the completed art an elegant finish, Andie makes her own bespoke frames. All art work come with hardware fitted to the frame itself ready for hanging. Paintings are delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
Andie's new studio is based upstairs in the private loft studios but you can see how she is getting on at her first exhibition in the Walford Mill Gallery between 10th and 28th June 2026.
